Logoplasm is two individuals, Laura Lovreglio and Paolo Ippoliti and the sound of the days they go through while living. For a long while the Logoplasm unit had two other members, our dogs, Kira and Lupa. Sadly they are not with us anymore. But you can hear them both all over old releases, their breaths, motions and gestures, tiny fingernails clicking onto floors while walking.

Recorded in Ariccia, Nemi, Anzio, three steps away from our place in 2007 and using mostly water, so that you could feel as if you were sailing, maybe stranded and lost offshore. Recorded and assembled so that Kane-I-Kokala could come and rescue you, by Laura Lovreglio and Paolo Ippoliti. The mixer trembled and blushed as we went on.
At a point in the first section just before the birdcall soars a couple passed through, one of them asking what does it mean? and the other one replying it means, it means and we kept crouching into the fountain as if nothing happened.
And even this is a partial recollection, a pointless story indexed via mostly obscure details. No way to spot seeds from atop the ground before they sprout. Be gentle.
In hawaiian folklore Kane-I-Kokala was a shark helper spirit that led you back to shore whenever you got lost at sea. A plentiful metaphoric plethora, engineered in place because of a broken compass, the land looking as reckless and unknown as the ocean these days.
Even if it all points north, it doesn\’t mean that\’s the way to go.

Logoplasm are Laura Lovreglio and Paolo Ippoliti, who used to run S\’Agita records and here they are using the sound of water too. ... they use electronic manipulation of the material to generate their piece of music. From the water sources we are lifted towards metal rumbles, which aren\’t recorded very well, so there is a slight distortion in the piece. When that is over, the menace of the water is brought into the second half of the piece and sounds quite like The Hafler Trio\’s \’Brain Song\’. Quite a decent piece altogether.

Zunächst einmal ist da Wasser. Und im Verlauf der kommenden 19 Minuten wird dort auch nicht viel weniger Trockenland auftauchen. Die erste Hälfte beginnt noch sehr hermetisch, die einzelnen Tonelemente sind noch (relativ) klar einer Wahrnehmungsgeografie zuzuordnen. H2O, welches etwas milchbubenhaft durch eine unter Kontrolle stehende Leitung läuft. Menschen, die wie in einem Museum etwas isoliert vom Kulturobjekt ihre Meinungen tuschelnd von Ohr zu Ohr weitergeben. Aber je mehr Zeit vergeht, desto wütender und unbändiger wird das Nass, bis es sich in eine rauschende Bestie verwandelt hat. Als Hörer wird man von immer mehr an Lautstärke und Intensität zunehmenden Wogen überflutet. Fiat lux: ein trotz Stimmengewirr und Menschenkulisse einsamer Zuhörer.
Es ist eine dieser cineastischen Szenen, in welcher der Darsteller eines metaphysischen Klamauks auf einem wuselnden öffentlichen Platz plötzlich in der Bewegung verharrt, den Kopf in den Nacken legt und mit weit geöffneten Augen in die gleißende Mittagssonne starrt; ihn eine Vision der ewigen Erkenntnis in weißem Überwurf und mit wallenden Goldlocken von oben in die Grauzone zwischen Tinnitus und Erleuchtung abholt. Hier vielleicht auch eine Fußnote in Richtung Titel: In der hawaiianischen Mythenwelt ist der Kane-i-kokala ein Wesen in Form eines Haifisches, welches den im offenen Ozean Verlorenen sicher zum Ufer zurückgeleitet. Um diesen Effekt des Heimkehrens zu erzielen, sollte sich der interessierte Gourmet allerdings auch unverzüglich und am besten schon vorher den kostenlosen Bonustrack „Mesmerizzato In Trono Via Dispersione Aerotropa” (http://www.fieldmuzick.net/logoplasm-kane-i-kokala.phtml) der eigenen Festplatte aufgetischt haben: Zu zarten Droneflächen und beruhigend mit sich selbst beschäftigten Dialogen wird das Wasserthema erneut aufgenommen. Diesmal allerdings nicht als alles vereinnehmende Naturgewalt sondern in Form von nach unten tropfendem Morgentau. Der Schläfer ist erwacht.
„Kane-i-kokala” reiht sich mühelos in die besten Werke des italienischen Experimentalpärchens ein und vereint alle starken Charakteristiken in einem Durchlauf: Konzentration, Intensität, Rohheit, Schönheit.

Aus den Alltagsgeräuschen die sie ständig archivieren und einer Intensiven Klangstudie über und mit Wasser beschwört das italienische Päärchen Laura Lovreglio und Paolo Ippoliti den hawaiianischen Wassergeistes Kane-I-Kokala herauf. Was als normales Field-Recording beginnt, sanft dahin plätschert und sich dann mit seichten, einschleichenden Drones vermischt, türmt sich immer weiter und unaufhaltsam zu einer riesigen Klangwelle auf, die am Ende schließlich zusammenbricht und den Hörer komplett aus seiner Meditationsstrarre reißt. LOGOPLASM verstehen es sehr gut einen extremen Dynamik- und Spannungsbogen zu erzeugen, der damit eine enorme Kraft und Sogwirkung besitzt und den Hörer fesselt. (8) – CV
